David McKenzie, Corporate Secretary/General Counsel
David McKenzie, QC, LLB, BAdmin, is a lawyer with Wilson Laycraft. He advises small and mid-sized enterprises in the areas of public and private corporate finance, exempt market securities offerings, bank financings, business and asset acquisitions and dispositions, commercial transactions, secured lending and foreclosure on secured debt. David is experienced in the exempt securities market, including having acted as the Chief Compliance Officer for an Exempt Market Dealer.
David articled with a major national law firm and initially practiced in commercial litigation. David then joined the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade as a Foreign Service Officer, practicing law in the Trade Law Division in Ottawa. While there he acted as a Commercial Secretary in the Canadian Embassy in Venezuela, focusing on the petroleum sector, before returning to private legal practice in Calgary in 2000. David volunteers with political organizations in his community, is currently a volunteer director of Connect Charter School and a director and Past-President of the Calgary Children’s Cottage Society. Previously, he was a volunteer director and President of the Calgary Multicultural Centre, a member of the United Way Cabinet, and an instructor of the Alberta Bar Admission Course. LinkedIn Profile |
